God, I always get so tempted to get a low angle, bevel up jack plane whenever I watch woodworking stuff and that thing just slices through the endgrain of wood like a hot knife through butter.

Either that or a low angle, bevel up block plane because expensive.

Hi all! Seriously hoping someone can help me out because I am trying to get this project finished asap. I am a novice at this and have no clue what went wrong with this one.

I am refinishing this dresser I bought, I painted the frame and was trying to restain the drawers. I lightly sanded them and then stained using general finishes gel stain in colonial maple and then after that dried a coat of general finishes gel stain in ash gray. They look HORRIBLE. Not sure if you can really tell from the photos but they turned out so streaky and blotchy looking.

I used this mix on another piece I have and it turned out beautiful, so I’m guessing it must be whatever type of wood this dresser is made out of. Does anyone know how I can now fix this issue + what caused it to turn out like this??

Yeah, he’s not going to want to drag his woodworking projects and tools through the house and down the stairs. Needs outside access. #househunters

My boyfriend has recently been taking interest in woodworking. He has no previous experience with anything at all, but he’d like to start by building small things. His birthday is coming up, so I want to surprise him with a “beginner’s kit” if you will. What are the basic tools that he absolutely will need and where in Huntsville ( or online) can I get them?
